St. George’s Hall student Apollo Decker traveled to Olympia and served as a page in the state House of Representatives the week of March 20-24. He was sponsored by his 12th District Rep. Keith Goehner.

“I am glad Apollo made the effort to come to Olympia. Serving in the page program helps students get a better understanding of our political process and the issues before the Legislature,” said Goehner, R-Dryden. “Apollo is a bright individual and I hope he stays engaged in state government as he continues his education.”

Apollo is the son of Brian and Anna Decker. He is in the Civil Air Patrol and also likes to bike, ski, run, and hike.

The page program is designed to educate students on the legislative process and give them an up close look at the work being done in Olympia during the legislative session. Pages also work on a culminating project and write a piece of legislation, then present the bill in a mock committee hearing to fellow pages.

To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages earn $50 per day while serving in the program.
