Goehner sponsors Cashmere student in the House Page Program

Liam Hill, a student at Cashmere Middle School, served as a legislative page for the state House of Representatives the week of Feb. 25 – March 1. He was sponsored by his 12th District Rep. Keith Goehner.

“I am grateful to have our grandson, Liam, serve as a page this session so he had the opportunity to observe how the Legislature works. He enjoyed his time in Olympia and is excited to share his experience with other students who may be interested in the page program,” said Goehner, R-Dryden. “Students should take advantage of the House Page Program. It is informative and provides a good understanding of how our political process and state government function.”

Liam is the son of Joshua and Heidi Hill of Cashmere. He is also the grandson of Keith and Lisa Goehner. His hobbies and interests include playing clarinet for the band and local orchestras, leadership and church.

Each year students from around the state apply to become a page. Applicants must have a legislative sponsor and be between the ages of 14 and 16. Additionally, pages are required to obtain written permission from their parents and school. Pages are paid $65 a day and can also earn up to 20 hours of community service. Applicants who need financial assistance for the expense of traveling and staying in Olympia may also apply for the Gina Grant Bull Memorial Legislative Page Scholarship, which helps to offset expenses.
