OLYMPIA… Sen. Keith Goehner has been appointed to the Legislative Committee on Economic Development and International Relations (LCEDIR) by Lt. Governor Denny Heck.

This marks Goehner’s second special committee appointment since his term as a state senator began Jan. 13 and reflects his commitment to fostering economic growth and international collaboration for Washington State.

The LCEDIR is tasked with studying and reviewing critical economic development issues, including international trade, tourism, investment, and industrial development. These areas, Goehner noted, are vital to Washington’s economy and impact employment opportunities, state revenues, and overall economic well-being.

“I am honored to serve on this committee,” said Goehner. “The work it does is essential for promoting economic growth and building strong partnerships with other governments and industries. By staying informed and engaged in these efforts, I can better serve the people of Washington and help position our state as a leader in the global economy.”

As economic trends evolve and the international marketplace becomes increasingly competitive, the role of LCEDIR is more critical than ever, Goehner added. The committee’s mission is to ensure legislative involvement in fostering economic growth, maintaining a healthy state economy, and creating employment opportunities for Washington residents.

“Washington’s economy thrives on its connections to global markets. These sectors, from trade and tourism to investment, are key drivers of our state’s success. Serving on this committee allows me to contribute to shaping policies that ensure Washington remains competitive and prosperous.”

The LCEDIR comprises eight senators and eight representatives. The committee is chaired by Heck, underscoring its importance in shaping Washington’s economic future.
