OLYMPIA… Anna Albert, a student at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, recently spent a week working as a page for the Washington State Senate at the Capitol in Olympia.
She was one of 19 students who served as Senate pages for the sixth week of the 2025 legislative session.
She was sponsored by Sen, Keith Goehner. He represents the 12th Legislative District, serving Chelan, and parts of King and Snohomish counties.
“It’s great when enthusiastic students can come to our Capitol and see the lawmaking process in action. I’m glad Anna had a memorable experience, and it was a pleasure to spend some time getting to know her better,” said Goehner.
The Senate Page Program provides an opportunity for Washington students to spend a week working at the Legislature. Students transport documents between offices, as well as deliver messages and mail. Pages spend time in the Senate chamber and attend page school to learn about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process. Students also draft their own bills and engage in a legislative mock session.
Through her academic endeavors, she learned about the page program and made it a goal to become a Senate page and “learn more about the Legislature.”
On weekends, Anna teaches karate to local children, as well as language lessons. She plays badminton and is a violinist in the community Orchestra.
Anna, 14, is the daughter of Vanarasi Antony Swamy of Snoqualmie.
