OLYMPIA… Vagram Mirzoyan, a freshman at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, recently spent a week working as a page for the Washington State Senate at the Capitol in Olympia.

He was one of 20 students who served as Senate pages for the 13th week of the 2025 legislative session. Sen. Keith Goehner, who represents the 12th Legislative District, serving Chelan, King, and Snohomish counties was his sponsoring senator.

“Having Vagram serve as a page was a true pleasure,” Said Goehner.  “He’s such a bright and capable young man who excelled in all of his tasks, and I’m so pleased he was able to have this experience.”

Mirzoyan plays competitive soccer for his school team and his club. He’s also highly involved in school debate and is going to compete nationally this year. “Helping out and volunteering is important to me,” Mirzoyan said. “Especially helping to coach youth in the community and showing them how to play soccer.”

“This was so different than just seeing names on ballots and in the news,” Mirzoyan said. “I feel like this has showed me a new side of politics and led me to meet so many cool people.”

He is 15 and the son of Anna Karakozova and Adel Abouchaev of Snoqualmie.

The Senate Page Program provides an opportunity for Washington students to spend a week working at the Legislature. Students transport documents between offices, as well as deliver messages and mail. Pages spend time in the Senate chamber and attend page school to learn about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process. Students also draft their own bills and engage in a legislative mock session.

Students interested in the Senate Page Program are encouraged to visit the Senate Page website.

Applications for the 2026 legislative session open November 1, 2025.
