DRYDEN… Sen. Keith Goehner, R-Dryden, issued the following message to residents of the 12th Legislative District as major flooding, widespread road closures, and power outages continue to affect the entire district.
”The recent weather events have greatly affected our district. Flooding, fallen trees, and extensive damage to local infrastructure have created a very serious situation. While floodwaters have begun to peak, it will take time for conditions to return to normal.
“Roads, power lines, burn scar areas, and homes across the region have been affected. These aren’t just statistics; they represent real hardships for families, workers, farms, and small businesses. The county sheriff’s office is urging residents to prepare for an increased risk of mudslides, especially on steep hillsides, canyon roads, and wildfire burn scars. We cannot be too cautious, and I strongly encourage people to stay off the roads unless necessary.
“Drivers should exercise extreme caution. Flood debris, washed-out shoulders, and overwhelmed culverts are making many roads dangerous or impassable, from state highways to local county roads. This storm — one of the strongest atmospheric rivers our region has faced in years — is affecting communities on both sides of the Cascades, especially the Snoqualmie Valley.
“Our road crews, PUD workers, emergency responders, farmers, and small-business owners are working tirelessly to keep people safe and start recovery efforts. I have been in close contact with state and local emergency-management officials and have made it clear that I am ready to help in any way needed. I will continue to monitor the situation and stay in communication with our local leaders as conditions change.”
